If your opponent properly breaks your Closed Guard by standing, transition into Open Guard: Grab onto the cross collar, and place one foot on his hip to control the distance; the other, on his shoulder. If he circles toward the foot-on-the-hip, replace the foot on his shoulder with a hook on his knee to help follow him around. If he insists on circling into that direction, block his base from posting and lift with the hook to guide him over onto the mat.
